If Easter suggests a time of renewal and rebirth, I’m not sure the concept can be better expressed than in the unfurling of a flower…in particular the plump bud of a Dahlia; as its whorl of petals release one by one, with the transition of the sun.
There's always some pest or other Sally! At least there's time to sow again...hopefully in your neck of the woods. The dahlias are on their last legs...hoping for just a few more surprises. Happy Easter Sally :))) xx
And a very happy Easter to you also Mickey. Thank you for sharing your busy week and the beautiful flowers. I thought our dahlias had finished, but no, one in particular just won’t stop flowering, and a few Cafe au Laits are still hanging around. The Pak Choy and Silverbeet. Planted are doing well but some little pest has stripped the tops off some of the Coriander and mown down the dill seeds which germinated. Oh well the joys of gardening.
Abutilon flowers are great to eat. I just pinch out the calyx (check for ants! the flower is mildly sweet) and pop it in your mouth. I've eaten them since I was a child, and never come to harm.
