More like Larry's keeping up with chopping enough wood! And early enough in the season so it's...well...seasoned. Glad I'm not the only one who finds Zinnias to be temperamental! Mx

Oh I know you India...your pockets are as full as your hands! And I'll bet like me...that your shirt/apron/jumper...is also loaded with bits you should have taken a basket for! Mx

Hi Leanne :)) Glad I'm not the only frugal one when it comes to lighting a fire! Or who gets her good clothes wrecked (it's clean dirt, I often think!!). Hoping to see the film this week - its screenings are somewhat elusive. Glad you enjoyed the post Leanne...lovely to know you're there. Mx

As always a delight, Zinnias are definitely temperamental, either spreading everywhere or. It giving at all. As for slow burners, I found when that was all we had, as long as you have everything set the amount of timber is far less in cost to electricity or gas, and certainly more sustainable than an open fire, but then you probably know that with all the years you have been at Glenmore, I guess it is the burning of timber that may be the issue?

It seems we have the same kindling habit , Mickey. Never come back to the house empty-handed…

Hi Mickey. Love the warm fire - yes why do we feel guilty about enjoying a cold day with fire going? Great information as per usual. I too head out thinking just a bit of gardening - then go full in - sometimes in pjs - regretting how dirty I get. Oh well. Tim and I recently saw a screening of “Wilding” in a theatre in Coffs Harbour when with my Mum. Absolutely mind-blowing!!! Jealous that you actually visited Knepp. Thank you for sharing. Leanne ❤️
