Thank you Sally! Yes my Mum was...lovely there's still a twinkle, even if it is a bit faded... Oh no to the rats - again! Will you replace the lavenders? It's always lovely to see a fresh one put on growth...and I hope you've chosen a good spot for your hydrangea too - you know I love them! Mx

Winter is such a busy time in the garden and how wonderful to see the fennel and Celeriac doing so well. Protection for your leas definitely would be slowing the growth, but they’ll get there. Unlike the Rainbow Chard and Coriander I planted, a rat had a great feast. We were busy yesterday lifting all the dahlias and digging up the lavenders which had become too woody, plus finally planting a huge hydrangea our daughter gave us for Christmas, I just hope the place which was chosen for it to be turns out for the best. Happy Birthday to your mum, and wasn’t she such a pretty young lady.
